Lucy Christeen Hall Barton, 85, of Lake Toxaway, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, went to be with the Lord and received her heavenly reward Monday, Aug. 11, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted Christian who spent her life serving others as she served the Lord, being a living example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was a lifelong member of Lake Toxaway Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as church treasurer.
She was the daughter of the late Charlie Coleman Hall and Judy Elminia Cash Hall. She was also preceded in death by 11 siblings, as well as her loving husband of 50 years, Arthur William Barton Sr., who passed away in 1991.
She is survived by four sons: Doug Barton, Charles Barton, Jim Barton, and Bill Barton.
She is also survived by three daughters: Elaine Hunter, Jean Snipes, and Phyllis Owen. She is also survived by a sister-in-law and devoted friend, Marie. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug 15, 2008 at North Toxaway Baptist Church, Rev. Tommy Mullis Jr., Rev. Bradley Chappell, Rev. David Dew, Rev. Tex Galloway, Rev. Randy Barton and Rev. Tommy Owen will officiate. Burial will follow in the Lake Toxaway Cemetery (Lakeside).
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday Aug 14, 2008 at the North Toxaway Baptist Church.
