Linda O. Fitzgerald (nee Ray), passed away at the age of 81 on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Whispering Pines in Valparaiso, IN.
She was born in Tutwiler, MS on January 8, 1927 to the late Emmett E. and Nora Lucille (nee Monroe) Ray.
Linda was a resident of Valparaiso since 1946. She owned and operated Lake Eliza Resort in Valparaiso along with her husband, Thomas Fitzgerald, Sr., Maurice and Denise Fitzgerald. She was a longtime employee of the Porter County Sheriff's Department and Porter County Health Department. Linda was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Valparaiso. Mother always displayed strength, courage and wisdom. A woman who lived with dignity and grace, Mother continues to watch over us.
Survivors include sons: Thomas Fitzgerald, Jr. and Emmett Fitzgerald; daughter, Glinda A. Fitzgerald; six grandchildren; three great granddaughters; three brothers: Emmett, Bob and Roy Ray.
Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Fitzgerald, Sr.; and brother, Clayton Ray. Friends may call on Friday, September 5, 2008 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the Dykes Funeral Home, 2305 N. Campbell Street, Valparaiso, IN and on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 509 W. Division Road, Valparaiso, IN. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. David Gosnell officiating.
Interment at St. Paul Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice Home Care, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
