Son of Curtis & Margaret (Hackleman) Stone; siblings - Curtis Jr, Nelson, Seth, Amelia (Mrs. Daniel Gift), Ellen Jane (Schaffer), Sylvia (Haslett) and Sarah Stone. Married Zada Elizabeth Hutton November 4, 1868 in Wabash Co, Indiana.

Enlisted as a Private on 5 September 1861 in Company F, 8th Indiana Infantry Regiment Indiana at Wabash, Indiana. Mustered out Company F, 8th Indiana Infantry Regiment Indiana on 28 August 1865 at Savannah, Georgia. Received Civil War Disability Pension on 28 April 1888 (Application #652835, Certificate #572238, South Dakota). Zada received Civil War Widows Pension on 5 August 1927 (Applicaiton #1588065, approved 27 Nov 1927, South Dakota).

Removed from Wabash, Indiana to South Dakota abt 1883. Occupations: Drayman, farmer.
