Nelson Stone died on Saturday morning,
June 8, 1878, of Lung Fever at his residence on the farm of his father-in-law, John Hutton, in Liberty Township, Wabash County.

Mr. Stone was a son of the late Curtis Stone and grandson of Dr. James Hackleman, and was born in the city of Wabash, July 10, 1844, and spent the principal part of his life in this vicinity.

In December 1861 he enlisted in Company "I", 47th Regiment Indiana Volunteers, and served as one of the non-commissioned officers of the company during the war.

In December 1868 he was married to Miss Rhetta Hutton, daughter of John Hutton, who now with three children, mourn the loss of a husband and father.

Some three years ago he moved to Fountain County, this state, where he resided until this spring, when he moved back to Wabash County.

He was a man of remarkably vigorous constitution, always able to meet the stern realities of life, but it pleased the Almighty Creator to take him to ........in the days of his childhood, and he now sleeps with his fathers.
