A son of the late James K. & Lora Rosalene (Giberson) Palmer, he was born Sept. 4, 1893 in Jersey County. He was one of eleven children. Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. One brother survives.
Mr. Palmer, a veteran of World War I, was a member of Disabled War Veterans Post 3 in Alton.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Gladys (Lewis) Palmer; a son, Edgar E. Palmer, Jr., and four daughters; Mrs. John (Eleanor) Barnal of Elsah, Mrs. Ralph (Cora) Walker of Cottage Hills; Mrs. James (Lora) DeSherlia of Grafton, and Mrs. Bernard (Betty) Callahan of Alton; a brother, Cleon, of Grafton, and 16 grandchildren. Pallbearers were John Barnal, Ralph Walker, James DeSherlia, Bernard Callahan, Paul Winters and Russell Whyte.
