Little is known about John Sebree. He first married Sarrah Endecott (b.1847-d.1885)and had 3 children with her. He was later married about 1894 to Laura A. "Dollie" Foster and they had six children. He worked in Cole Camp at the livery. One of his daughters, Martha Francis Sebree(later following her marraige, Martha "Fannie" Wehmeyer), was born in Iola, Kansas in 1897 so the family could have possibly lived there for a while and returned to the Cole Camp area later. It is beleived that after his second wife's untimely death he found it difficult to care for all of the children and left all of them to be raised by various neighbors including the Stratton family and the Muller family of Benton County. It is uncertain if he was ever heard from again in the Benton County area, and possibly lived the rest of his life down near Ava, Missouri near other of his older children. Union-Williams Cemetery, south-west of Cole Camp is the burial location for his wife Laura. His name is listed on the back of her grave stone (see picure to the right).
