Alpha Marian Alfred Morgan

Mrs. Alpha Marian Alfred Morgan, age 95 of Houston, slipped from this life to eternity in Heaven on Wednesday, August 25, 2004. Mrs. Morgan was born August 2, 1909 in Houston County and was the first child of the late Richard Henry and Elzora Padgett Alfred. Mrs. Morgan attended school at Center Ridge School in Center Hill graduating in 1926. Mrs. Morgan married the late William Franklin Morgan on December 25, 1929. Mrs. Morgan and her husband and three children moved to Houston in 1949 where she resided until her death.

Mrs. Morgan is remembered for her faith in God, and her many years of teaching 4's and 5's in Sunday School and always being willing to help others. Mrs. Morgan loved to garden, always had beautiful flowers growing and was a skilled craftswomen at creating beautiful hand-stitched quilts. Mrs. Morgan's family remembers her as loving and faithful, help, to her husband, a and (sic) patient and kind mother and grandmother.

Preceded in death by her husband W. F. (Bill) Morgan; son-in-law Jerry Clark; grandson-in-law Roger Hickey; sister Effie Moffitt; and brothers Moody Alfred, Elzie Alfred and R. H. Alfred.

Survivors include her three children son Billy Morgan and wife Mary Ann; and daughters Nell Clark and Jan Burcham and husband David; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons David Morgan, Joey Burcham, Jon Clark, Frank Burcham, Thomas Morgan and great-grandson William Martin.

Music was provided by grand-daughter-in-law Susan Morgan; great-grandson David Morgan Jr.; granddaughter Cynthia Hickey; son-in-law David Burcham; and grandsons John Clark, Frank Burcham and Gerald Clark.

Memorial services for Mrs. Alpha Marian Alfred Morgan were held Saturday, August 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Earthman's Funeral Home in Bellaire with grandson the Reverend Gerald A. Clark, Jr. pastor of Central Faith Baptist Church of San Angelo and the Reverend James Kinman of Almeda Baptist Church in Houston.

Graveside service was held Saturday, August 28, at 3:00 p.m. at Old Zion Cemetery in Kennard. Interment followed.
