Mrs Essie Mae Starr Hogg Ferguson, age 88, 0 months, 20 days of Kennard, passed away Tuesday, Mary 9, 2006 at her residence. Mrs. Ferguson was born April 19, 1918 in Anderson County and had lived all of her lifetime in Kennard. Mrs. Ferguson was a housewife and was a member of the Lufkin Bowling league where she loved bowling. Mrs. Ferguson was an avid quilt maker, gardener and she enjoyed the outdoors.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Loretta Hobbs and husband Doug, of Kennard and Annie Wars and husband Dennis, of Groveton; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth Hogg and wife Paula and Hulen Hogg and wife Janie, all of Kennard; 11 grandchildren C. W. McMullen, of Kennard, Pam Troutman and husband Tim, of Lufkin, Karen Gray, of Greenville, Rusty Hogg and wife Amanda, Kim Bentley and husband Randy, all of Kennard, David Hogg and wife Tammy, of Groveton, Deborah Wood and husband David, of Woodlake, Rhonda Hogg, of Ky., Grady Hogg and wife Lisa, of Kennard, James Hogg and wife Meagan, of Jacksonville and Teressa Bobbitt and husband Darrell, of Weches; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters Evelyn Young, of Palestine and Iona Lou Gottlich and husband Hugo, of Gulfport, Miss.; four brothers Oscar Starr, of Elkhart, Preston Star and wife Marron, of Lockhart, Leroy Starr and wife Marion, of Elkhart and Ben Star and wife Angela, of Palestine; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceded in death by her first husband W. C. "Carl" Hogg; second husband Elvin "Sonny" Ferguson; father and mother Paul Star and Ioma Bynum Starr Hill; brothers Hubert Starr and William P. Starr; and sisters Ethel Neal, Eva Gibson; and infant sister Baby Starr. Funeral Services for Mrs. Essie Mae Starr Hogg Ferguson were held Saturday, May 13, at 10:00 a.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Grady Gladden and the Rev. Jim Durham officiating. Interment followed in the Old Zion Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 W. 49th Street Room #G408, Austin, TX. 75756. Callaway-Allee Funeral Home
