Aged M'Comb Man Called By Death
George H. Swartz Dies from Infirmities of Age--Was 85 Years Old.
George H. Swartz, a well known resident of this county for many years, passed away at 11 o'clock Monday morning at his home in McComb, from infirmities of age after being in failing health for the last five months. He was 85 years old.
Mr. Swartz was born March 22, 1838, in Fairfield county, and was the son of George and Mary Beiry (sic) Swartz. He came to this county in 1859 and resided for a number of years in Blanchard township. Four years age he removed to McComb. He was united in marriage in Leah Vina Downing, in 1868. Mrs. Swartz passed away 10 years ago. Eight children were born to the union and all survive their parents. They are: Mrs. J. A. Groves of McComb and Miss Grace Swartz and David Swartz, at the home in McComb; Mrs. C. L. Moffitt and Mrs. A. M. Van Horn, residing in Rochester, N.Y.; George C. Swartz of Los Angeles, Cal., and Miss Meta E. Swartz and J. B. Swartz, of this city.
Mr. Swartz was affiliated with the Methodist church for a number of years.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed, pending word from the distant daughters and son. Interment will be in Maple Grove cemetery.
