NATIVE CALIFORNIAN, BELOVED FATHER, GRANDFATHER AND BROTHER
Arthur Lyle Lacey, age 91, born October 11, 1908 in San Dimas, California. He was proud of being the son of a pioneering Southern California family. He attended Bonita High School where he was a member of the track and baseball teams. He earned enough money to buy his first car at age fourteen, promptly driving it to Yosemite National Park. He made the same trip to Yosemite 57 times during his life as a professional driver and tour guide. He drove everything from midget racing cars to touring limousines. Mr. Lacey along with his first wife and brother served his country by working at Northrop Aircraft in Inglewood, California during World War II. He worked on the P-61 Black Widow. He lost his leg in an industrial accident at the plant in 1942.
After World War II, he managed a gas station in Pomona, Ca.
He was the owner of Campus Cab Company in Claremont, California during the fifties and conducted tours within the 48 states, Canada and Mexico. "Lyle," as he was known, had a wonderful sense of humor, known for his limericks and the singing of little ditties, will be remembered by all as a very kind, compassionate and generous person.
He was predeceased by his first wife Jane, the mother of his daughters, and by his second wife Beryl Ellen Hall Lacey, to whom he was married for 42 years.
He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon Moyer and Grace Cubbage, his stepsons Waynn Pearson and Ernie Pearson and Numerous grandchildren who adored him.
