CLARENCE, NY; Leo H. Less, 82, died Monday at his daughter's residence, 2430 Parker Blvd. in Tonawanda, N.Y.
Mr. Less was born in Greenford, the son of the late Anthony A. and late Mary A. Schwind Less.
He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945. He received his B.A. in 1947 from Miami University in Oxford, where he starred in football, and attained his mater & amp;#146;s from the American College of Life Underwriters. He compiled a highly-successful record as a district manager for Equitable Insurance in Youngstown. Under his leadership, annual sales doubled and a large number of potential salesmen were developed into successful life insurance agents.
He moved to Clarence in 1961 with his wife, the late Flora E. McDonald Less, and their three children to take a position as agency manager of Equitable Buffalo Agency. He finished his career as an independent agent through the Harris Hill Agency in Clarence.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Ann (John) Szlachtun of Tonawanda; two sons, R. Bruce (Margie) Less of Greer, S.C. and Sean M. Less of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Mary Mitchell of Erie, Pa.; his sisters-in-law, Mildred Less of Salem, Jane Less of Washingtonville and Jeanne Less of Washington, Ohio; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Shepard Bros. Funeral Home, 10690 Main St. in Clarence.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 10950 Main St. in Clarence.
Burial and prayers will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Poland Riverside Cemetery in Poland.
