Mrs. Mertie Fort Hebrard, 91, of Norway, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Bamberg Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Willow Swamp Baptist Church in Norway, with the Rev. Jason Metcalf officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Norway, directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg.
The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service and the family will receive friends at the church social hall during that time.
Active pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Men of Willow Swamp Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hebrard was born May 4, 1917, in Norway, a daughter of the late Benjamin Fort and the late Maybell Baltzegar Fort. She was a lifetime resident of Norway. She was a member of Willow Swamp Baptist Church and was a retired seamstress. She was the widow of the late Clinton "Red" Hebrard and was preceded in death by a daughter, Margie Kaminer. Survivors include a daughter, Nellie Mae "Nell" Hutto of Hilda; son-in-law, David Kaminer of Norway; two grandsons, Ralph O'Neal Owens and Clinton M. (Janet) Hutto; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Justin; a number of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg.
