Thomas was the s/o William McGuire and Mary Ann Shirley. He was born in Quebec, Canada while his parents were POW's during the Revolutionary War. After their release their older son, Michael, according to family lore, died on the the way back to the U.S. Thomas married Anna Talitha Lee on Oct. 7, 1805 in Madison Co., KY. They later lived in Bedford Co., TN. After the 1850 census they moved to Hopkins Co.

1. Mary Ann "Polly" McGuire Bryan (my GGGG grandmother)b. July 3, 1807 in Paint Lick, Madison Co.(at that time), Kentucky. Married Nathaniel G. Bryan Dec. 24, 1826 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. d. July 1881 in Field Twp., Jefferson Co., Illinois. Her son, Thomas W. Bryan married his first cousin Melea Ann Carpenter.

3. Temperance "Tempie" McGuire Carpenter Harmon (my GGGG grandmother) b. May 27, 1810 in Paint Lick, Madison Co., Kentucky. Married John Wesley Carpenter in Bedford Co., Tennessee. Her daughter, Melea Ann Carpenter married her first cousin Thomas W. Bryan. Tempie was widowed and had 6 Carpenter children. Tempie next married Elisha Harmon around 1842-1844 in Tennessee. They had 4 sons together. Tempie died after June 18, 1880 since that is the date she was on the census in Jefferson Co., Illinois. Can't find more on her yet. Still lookin'.

4. Nancy McGuire b.. January 11, 1812 in Tennessee. Married Robert McFarlin. Grandma Ann Lee is living with them in the 1870 census.

5. Sarah McGuire b. 1814 Married Wm. Sharp. Died 1890 in Maury Co., Tennessee. Sarah's daughter, Nicey Bell married her cousin, Thomas Benjamin Carpenter, son of Temperance McGuire Carpenter Harmon. Look up Tom's pg. for an interesting news

6. Catherine "Katie" Lee McGuire was born April 17, 1815 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. She married Bibb B. Bomar. Katie died May 9, 1889 in Bedford Co., Tennessee.

7. Susan McGuire was born November 10, 1816 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. She married Don Carlos Shriver.
Susan died April 5, 1909 in Bedford Co., Tennessee.

8. A male, born 1818, who must have died young.

9. Lucinda McGuire was born September 4, 1820 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. She married David Simeon R.
George. Lucinda died January 24, 1897 in Charleston, Delta Co., Texas.

10. Cornelius Butcher McGuyer was born November 8, 1822 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. His first wife was Mary Ann Golithan and they were married June 3, 1847 in Bedford Co., Tennessee. They had at least 6 children together. After he was widowed he married Salina Dukes, March 1, 1860 in Hopkins Co., Texas.
Ancestry.com has him listed as Cornelius B. McGregor. Together they had at least 9 children. And boy, did Cornelius carry on the family name. I have read that it was Cornelius that changed the spelling to McGuyer. Fact or fiction?
