COURIER JOURNAL OBITUARY - 04/09/2010
BISIG - Mary Leah "Molly," 84, passed away Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at Norton Audubon Hospital. She was the former Molly Yunker, daughter of James Arthur Yunker and Ruth Veazy Yunker. Molly attended the University of Louisville School of Music where she studied voice and piano. In 1951, she married her lifelong love, Charles J. Bisig MD., with whom she had seven children. Molly's large family of children and grandchildren were the joy and focus of her life. She also enjoyed playing bridge, backgammon and chess, discussing politics and reading voraciously. She could be seen every summer, book in hand, sitting in her wicker rocking chair on her beloved porch. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Queen's Daughters and Bellarmine Women's Council. She was a committee head for the Peeking Opera Theater when the Chinese Opera performed in Louisville benefiting Bellarmine College. She donated her time volunteering with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Big Spring Country Club and the Pendennis Club. Molly was preceded in death by her daughter, Gwen Bisig; husband, Charles J. Bisig MD.; sister, Pat Richardson and brother, Michael Yunker. She is survived by sister, Rose Yunker; brother, James Yunker of Newport Beach, CA; six children, Mary Philomena Boyce, Charles J. Bisig, Jr. MD, and his wife, Norma, Philip Bisig and his wife, Peggy, Isabel Bringardner and her husband, Jeff, Leah Leasure and her husband, Bob and Larry Bisig; as well as 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 1920 Newburg Road with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, April 11, 2010 at her residence on Cherokee Road. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a gift to Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy for Cherokee Park, 1299 Trevelian Way, Louisville, KY 40213.
