Lura was born 28 January 1921, in Cedar City, Utah, to LaFayette Junior McConnell and Pearl Robb McConnell. On 21 May 1949, she married J. Smith Stapley in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared many wonderful years together until Smith passed away in 1997.
