Edwin Wick

World War II Army veteran Edwin Wick, 86, 709 53rd St. S., died Saturday of cancer at his home. His funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Highland Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth H. Wick of Great Falls; a sister, Edith Kavulla of Great Falls; and a brother, Harold Wick of Great Falls.

Edwin was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Klaebu, Norway and raised in Stockett. He graduated from Centerville High School. He served in the Army in North Africa and Italy during World War II for nearly four years. He married Elizabeth Harriet Argenbright on June 21, 1959, at the First Presbyterian Church in Great Falls.

After the war Edwin worked for civil service at Malmstrom Air Force Base where he became section supervisor of warehouse for storage and issue, retiring in 1973.
Edwin was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as elder, deacon and lay minister. He was a life member of Sons of Norway and president of Lodsen Lodge No. 138 for three years and was councilor for five years, trustee for nine years, district zone director for four years, and also held the offices of financial secretary and assistant secretary. He was in charge of the Sons of Norway fair booth for three years and worked the fair booth for 22 years. He was a member of the VFW for over 50 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, woodworking, folk and ballroom dancing, and restoring used machines--especially lawn mowers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Merit Wick, two sisters and two brothers.
