On Thursday, May 30, 2013, Bertha B. Pitzer, 92, formerly of Freedom, New Sewickley Township, died.

She was born on March 26, 1921, to the late Arthur L. and Bertha E. Stahlman Cowan in Roseville, Pennsylvania.

She was a member of the Edgewood Lutheran Church of Pittsburgh, and a retired employee of Phoenix Glass with 26 years of service.

She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew B. Pitzer, Sr., who died on September 25, 2001. They married on July 12, 1942.

She is survived by her loving children: Edward (Lana) Pitzer of Florida, Paul Ray Pitzer Sr. of Monaca, Beatrice (Late Ralph, Sr.) Maley of Monaca, Sally Hudock of Rochester; 15 grandchildren, Beth Ann (Darryl) Herdt, Kristie Herr, Daryl Pitzer, Lori Busch, Lisa Pitzer, Rhea Lynn Pitzer, Paul Raye Pitzer Jr., Jennifer Pitzer, Matthew Pitzer, Dustin Pitzer, Cheryl Harpold, Ralph Maley, Jr., Tracie Maley and Richard Hudock; 17 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and three sisters, Nellie (David) Beer, Alma Cowan and Della Carrier.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Albert "Bert" Pitzer, Jr., and Delbert (surviving spouse Nancy) Pitzer, a grandson, Edward Pitzer, Jr. and eight siblings.

Calling hours with the family will be today, June 2, 2013 at 998 Atlantic Avenue, Monaca. Burial will be next to her husband in the family plot in Roseville Bethel Cemetery, Jefferson County.

Notice: Blanche graduated in 1940's from Western PA School for the Deaf, 300 E. Swissvale Avenue, Edgewood, PA 15218.
