Funeral Services for Samuel Bailey of Stewardson to Be Conducted Wednesday


Samuel Bailey, pioneer citizen soldier of the Civil War and one of the best known men in Shelby county, died (9/5/1927) in his home at Stewardson Monday morning at 7:30.
He was born in England on Oct. 14, 1839. Mrs. Bailey, daughter of the late John D. and Fannie Williams, who came to Southern Shelby in 1839, died on February 24, 1916.
Eight children survive: J. W. Bailey, Mrs. Edward Ewing and Mrs. Frank Koontz of Stewardson; A. W. Bailey of Casper, Wyo., H. H. Bailey of Altamont, I. S. Bailey of Shobonier, W. S. Bailey of Champaign, Dr. Edith Gatchell of Helena, Ark.
Funeral services are to be conducted in the Stewardson Methodist church of Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The body will lie in state in the church from 2 until 3 o'clock.
