BUNTON Paul R, 84, Nicholasville, husband of Ruth G. Bunton, died Mon, April 5, 2010 at Central Baptist Hospital. Born in Mercer County to the late John T. and Myrtle Irene (Bickers) Bunton. Paul was a Navy veteran from World War II. He was a graduate of the Eastern Kentucky State College. He ended a 33 year career with the Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) in 1981, retiring as Vice President of Marketing and Development and served as manager of the Eastern Region of the US. He was a member of the Bluegrass Kiwanis Club and was an avid golfer and sports fan. During retirement he, along with Charles Peace and other Borroughs Colleagues founded Bunton, Peace, & Associates. Paul was also active in the Transylvania Habitat for Humanity in Brevard, NC, where he served as President in 1996-97 and received the Golden Hammer Award for extraordinary service as a volunteer. He was a long-time member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Lexington where he served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon. He was also the chairman of the Finance Committee during the time they were raising the funds to build the church in its current location. Survivors: his wife of 66 years: Ruth (Garriott) Bunton, a daughter: Paula Bunton of Lexington and a son: John (Linda) Bunton of Nicholasville; granddaughter, Anna Bunton of Lexington, KY and a brother: James "Harold" (Helen) Bunton of Raleigh, NC. Funeral services will be 11:30am Fri, April 9 at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Lexington, by Craig Loscalzo. Burial will be in the Kirkwood Cemetery, Salvisa. Visitation will be Fri, April 9 from 10am until the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Immanuel Baptist Church or Habitat for Humanity.
