Madill, OK — LaVada Christine Ayres, 96, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away April 4, 2010, at her residence in Tulsa. She was born on March 15, 1914, to the late Leonard Ables and Mattie Jewel McCracken Ables in Madill. LaVada was raised in Madill where she graduated high school.

She married Ernest Earl Ayres on December 24, 1933, in Madill. He preceded her in death on February 7, 1993.

In 1988 she moved to Ardmore where she lived for several years before moving to Tulsa in 1995. LaVada was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, and she was an avid OU sports fan.

LaVada was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Mike Ayres; two brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Jan Young, Tulsa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Stu Young, Edmond, Oklahoma, Michael Ayres, Wichita, Kansas, Stacey Ayres Cook, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Greg Ayres, Sulphur, Oklahoma; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Pettijohn Spring Christian Camp, P.O. Box 440, Madill, OK 73446.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, Oklahoma. Virgil Trout will officiate the services. Music arranged by Mark and Barry Williams
