Mr. Ernest Skaggs, 78, of the Maple Community in Taylor County, Star Route, son of the late Mr. William David Skaggs and Mrs. Nancy Ellen Sutton, was born in Taylor County, February 23, 1894. He died at 2:40 a.m., Wednesday, May 24th at the Taylor County Hospital. He had been a patient there for one day. He professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church in Green County. He was a veteran of World War I. He united in marriage to Miss Katie Mae Underwood December 23, 1920. She preceded him in death May 7, 1962. To this union one son and three daughters were born. Surviving are: Mrs. Helen Bohanon of Campbellsville, Mr. Charles Skaggs of Campbellsville, Star Route, Mrs. Otis Shofner of Raywick, Rt. 1, Mrs. Chester Anderson of Pineland, South Carolina; ten grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Shofner of Campbellsville, Star Route; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 25th at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Rev. Garland Skaggs and Rev. Emory Kinslow. Burial in Arvin Cemetery. Pallbearers: Eugene Wright, Hardin Hedgespeth, Chester Skaggs, Winfrey Skaggs, Willard Wright, and Roscoe Shofner.
