LOGAN -- Justus Warren King passed away Friday, April 4, 2003, in Logan, Utah. He was born Dec. 8, 1916, in Grace, Idaho, in the farm home to James Warren King and Anna Seeley.
After graduating from Grace High School, he was called to serve in the Swiss German Mission and served in Switzerland, Germany, and France. He attended Utah State University for two years before returning to Grace to work on the family farm. He married LaNorma Jenson in the Salt Lake Temple, and they are the parents of three daughters. Warren was active in the LDS Church and served in many capacities including councilor in the bishopric, high priest group leader, Scoutmaster, and temple worker.
Warren was a farmer, member of the Grain Grower's Board of Directors, chairman of the Caribou County Fair Board, farm and ranch real estate agent, and active in other civic affairs.
In 1974 he moved to Logan. Warren became an accomplished potter and worked as a lab technician in the art department at Utah State University. Many people have enjoyed receiving Warren's pottery.
In 1983 he married Daleen Shurtliff. They were later sealed in the Logan Temple. They are the parents of one daughter. They lived in Nibley, Utah where Warren enjoyed his good neighbors and friends, especially his friendship with Allan Swenson.
He is survived by four daughters and four step-daughters, Geraldine Nielson, (DeVerl), Shelley, Idaho; Janice Wilker (Craig), Grace, Idaho; Karen Andreasen (Mark), Thatcher, Idaho; Leisa Phillips, Ashland, Oregon; Stephanie Roos (Jared), Nibley, Utah; Natalie Phillips, Logan, Utah; Amber Spencer (Gabriel), Logan, Utah; and Emily King, Logan, Utah; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gertrude Jeppson (Lee) and Stella Galloway; and one brother, Dale G. King.
The family appreciates the kind and compassionate service to Warren by Dr. Glenn Mortensen, Dr. Nordell Brown, and the nursing staff of Logan Regional Hospital and Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 8, in the Logan 33rd Ward Chapel, 1260 N. 1600 East at noon.
Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery. Arrangements by Allen-Cranney Mortuary, North Logan.
