Edward Berryman was born Oct. 15, 1840, in Lawrence County. He enlisted in Courtland as a private in Co. I of the 16th Alabama Regiment. He was wounded in the Five Fishing Creek battle and was captured at Mount Hope. He was imprisoned at Nashville. He was paroled at Mount Hope in 1865.
