Mr. Danner died Wednesday, Feb. 3, in TauraCho, Japan, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy.
Born April 5, 1959, in Pensacola, Fla., he attended Wendler Junior High School and Bartlett High School. In 1977 he graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in Decatur. He reached the level of Life Scout in the Boy Scouts and was in the Order of the Arrow.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1978, and had served on the USS Midway and the USS Oldendorf. He was stationed with the USS Midway when it received the Meritorious Unit Accommodation Service Medal for action in the Western and Northern Pacific and Indian Ocean from 1982 through 1984. His last assignment was for the office of safety and security in Atsugi, Japan.
He enjoyed camping, hiking and riding motorcycles and horses.
He leaves his wife of two months, Kaori, of Japan; his sisters, Therese Leiser, of Anchorage, and Dawn, of Decatur; his brothers, Tom and Will, both of Decatur, and Alfred, of Geneva, Ala.; his mother BettyLee, of Decatur; and his father, Alfred, of Eastman, Ga.
