Virginia Ashby, 81, died December 22,1996 at the Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Born December 9, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Edna Yancey.
She was united in marriage on November 9, 1936 to Sam Ashby. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1982. Also preceding her in death were her parents and one grandchild, Brad Ashby.
Survivors include: one son Samuel James Ashby, III and (Mamie Sue) Ashby of Gideon, Mo.; one daughter, Kathy Nell (Mike) Lambert of Poplar Bluff, Mo. ; one sister, Margaret Majors of Texas; 3 Grandchildren, Louis Ashby, Amanda Lambert, Aaron Lambert, and one great granddaughter, Anna Ashby.
Services held December 24, 1996 at 1 p.m. at the DeLisle Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Portageville Cemetery.
