AMHERST — Harold W. "Red" Linn, age 83 and a life resident of Amherst, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the Ohio Veteran's Home, Sandusky, after a long illness.
Red was born in Amherst, November 4, 1926, to the late William and Jenny (nee Traster) Linn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Red was married November 24, 1948 to Eleanor F. Wilson of Wakeman. They were wed 61 years at his passing. Red's trade was a tool and die maker, and he was employed at the former General Motors, Fisher Guide, Elyria from May 2, 1949 until his retirement December 1, 1988. In retirement he enjoyed classic car restoration and attended classic car events in Lorain County, motorcross, golfing, and bowling.
In addition to his wife Eleanor, Red is survived by four children; Ronald (wife, Jan) Linn of Amherst, Rodney (wife, Aimee) Linn of LaGrange, Deborah (husband, Larry) Abraham of Lorain, Dawn (husband, Tony) Karnik of Lorain; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother Merlin (wife, Margaret) Linn of Sheffield Lake, and a sister Laverne (Charlie Vegh) Toth of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Linn.
Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Garland-Misencik Funeral Home, 851 Park Avenue, Amherst. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Elder Larry Young officiating. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
