Katerine immigrated to American abt. 1852 when she was 9 years old. Her father died on the boat as it near St. Louis. On June 30, 1870 she married Carl Herman Metzner. They had 9 children, six surviving to adulthood. Katherine was always ready to serve in any good work for the betterment of her community. She found great delight in contributing to the wants and needs of the sick and infirm. Her hospitality was unbounded and the unfortunate wayfarers could not pass her home without an invitation to sit at her table.
