Newt Abner Jr., 55, passed away April 7, 1998. He was born in Alabama, lived most of his life in Akron, and the past 22 years in Newcomerstown. He worked in the car business for 25 years and was currently employed by Tastee Apple.
He is survived by wife, Carol; son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Tammy of Newcomerstown; sons, Greg of Birmingham, Ohio, and Dwight of Massillon; sisters, Ruby Crow of Alabama, Macie Storey of Americus,Georgia; Elizabeth "Betty" Worley, Horn Lake, MS, and Patsy Carol "Pat" Abner, Ruleville, Mississippi, and Eleanor; half-brother, James Cohen Taylor of Alabama; grandchildren, Dustin, Brittany, and Taylor Abner. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Hennessy-Bagnoli Funeral Home, 936 N. Main St., Akron, with Fr. Pete Colletti officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
