Leroy married his first wife Gertrude Ragans under his birth name of McMurphy, sometime after their marriage he started going by Murphy , like other McMurphy's have been known to do.

Leroy Murphy, 96, of Rest - A - While Nursing Home died Thursday, November 5, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 4 P. M. on Saturday, November 7 at Lakeside Assembly of God, Reverand Roy Hicks will be officiating, assisted by Reverand Shelvie Sumerlin.

Burial will be at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jack McDurman, Glen Kilgore, Chick Croft, Steve Sanders, Scottie Sumerlin, and Marvin Croft will serve as pallbearers.

Born Mar. 18, 1902, in Thomas County, Mr. Murphy was the son of Ransom and Annie McMurphy.

He was a retired cook from Gold Leaf Restaurant, and he was well known in the community as a great supporter of all sports, where he made many friends.

He was a member of the Assemblies of God.

Harrel - Faircloth will be in charge of arrangements.
