A daughter of James Harvey Peck and Helen Johnson, she married Thomas John Shaw Feb 26, 1896. Ella died of a stroke when their buggy went out of control just north of Stronghurst. She had 10 siblings: Sarah E (1851 - 1882), Elsie S (1853 - 1858), Dalinda M Hanks, Edwin J. (1858 - 1859), Harriet Emma Howard, Martha Sophia Pritchard, Phineas M. (1865 - 1954), Cassius S. (1867 - 1958), Mary Helen Woodward, and Edson W. Peck, who married Susie A. Leinbach.

TJ and Ella's children were: one son Earle Cranston; and four daughters: Florence Margaret (Myers), Sarah Helen (Heller), Lois Jeannette (Putney), and Alice Hull (Cox).
