Roseville - Sept. 24. - Thomas John Shaw, born Dec. 17, 1873 in Media Twp. Henderson County, IL, died Sept. 20, 1941 at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 3 days. He joined the Walnut Grove church as a young man and later transferred to the United Presbyterian church of Olena and Stronghurst. He was united in marriage to Ella V. Peck, Feb. 26, 1896, who preceded him in death Sept. 2, 1913.

Those left to mourn his death are five children: Earle of Roseville, Flo (Mrs. A. B. Myers) of California; Lois (Mrs. E. F. Putney) of Dallas City; Alice (Mrs. G. W. Cox), Roseville; Sarah of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. David Alexander Gibb of Biggsville, IL. The funeral was held Monday Sept. 22, at Stronghurst in the Mellor funeral home. Rev. N. Jackson of Monmouth officiated. Burial was in Stronghurst mausoleum.

A son of Patrick White & Sarah Jane Hull Shaw, brother to James Hull, Francis, & Edd Shaw; Mary Jane, Margaret, Sarah Catherine, Eleanor Russell, and Elizabeth Shaw who married David A. Gibb. Thomas John married Ella Peck. She died in a buggy accident in 1912 & TJ had to raise his younger daughters alone. He was in a hospital in Peoria when he died, but was returned to Stronghurst for burial.

Gibb, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gibb; Mr. & Mrs. Marshall Gibb and daughter, Mrs. Dave Rawhouser; Mrs. Elizabeth Sterret; James Gibb of Biggs; Mrs. Cora Shaw, Mr. & Mrs. Chester Gibb and Mrs. Grace Musgove of Monmouth, Harry Gibb, and Mr. & Mrs. John Gibb.
