In 1877 on the 15th day of April he was married to Gesine Lammers. In 1879 they moved to Hastings and a year later to Blue Hill, where they made their home ever since.

In 1927, April 15, three years ago on the day of the funeral, Mr. and Mrs Muchow celebrated their golden wedding.
Mr. Muchow for many years has been one of the elders of trinity congregation and also held the office of treasurer for some time. He is one of the pioneers of Trinity.
Though feeble in late years and not always quite clear in his mind because of advanced age, he nevertheless at all times manifested a great love for his church and the kingdom of God. After several weeks of lingering the Lord called him into His Heavenly kingdom, Saturday of last week, April 12, between the hours of seven and eight o'clock in the forenoon.
The duration of his sojourn in this world was eighty-three years, four months, and twelve days.
The funeral was held, Tuesday at the house of mourning, and at Trinity Lutheran Church. Words of firm hope were spoken by the pastor of Trinity on John 3. 36 "He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life," for the German service. The text for the English sermon was 2 Tim. 1, 12, " I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." Songs of heavenly yearning and faith in the "Rock of Ages" were sung by a quartet.
