He was born Jan. 31, 1909, in Augusta County and was the son of the late William J. and Ella Wise Glick.
He graduated from Centerville High School. He was a custom farm operator and was also known for his ham curing. He was a school bus driver and had worked at Shickel Machine Shop after moving to Bridgewater in 1975.
Mr. Glick was a member of the Summit Church of the Brethren and was an ordained deacon and served as a trustee. He was chairman of the building committee for the new church. He was a Sunday school teacher and also served as assistant superintendent of the Sunday school. He served on a commission to study the growth and utilization of forest resources of Virginia.
On Dec. 25, 1932, he married Grace Wright, who died June 14, 1959. On June 10, 1962, he married Norma Hollen, who died Oct. 28, 1987. On Oct. 29, 1988, he married Gladys Spencer, who survives.
Also surviving are six children, Ray E. Glick of McGaheysville, Janice G. Fifer of Bridgewater, Glenna G. Beard and Nancy G. Simmons, both of Weyers Cave, John W. Glick of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Diana G. Pugh of Stanardsville; four stepchildren, Forrest Glick and Myrtle Kettner, both of Minnesota, Laverne Glick of Indiana and Gail Reese of Iowa; two sisters, Vesta Zirkle of Broadway and Grace Fleishman of Bridgewater;17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. today at the Lindsey Harrrisonburg Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgewater Rescue Squad.
