James Pieratt, 77, died last Saturday, Nov 1, at the Lagrange County Hospital from a long illness of diabetes. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the Caton and Frurip Funeral Home with the Rev. C. L. Robinson officiating. Burial was made in the Woodruff cemetery.
Mr. Pieratt was born in Morgan County, Kentucky, December 17, 1869, the son of John and Margaret (Nickell) Pieratt. His wife died October 7, 1939 following a long illness. He was a familiar figure on the streets of Lagrange, having made his home here the greater part of the time for many years. He was employed at the Veile Lunch car for some time before his health failed.
Survivors include three sons, Calvin of Fort Wayne, Clyde of Kalamazoo and Lloyd of South Bend; three daughters, Mrs. David Blain and Mrs. Ben VanZile of Sturgis and Mrs. Dayton Miller of Stroh; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters.
