"Cora Elizabeth Nidey Pottorff was the youngest daughter of Timothy and Lucinda Thompson Nidey. She was born at Floris, Iowa, April 20, 1876 and died at Floris July 22, 1930 aged 44 years, 3 months and 2 days.
She gave her heart to God when a girl and united with the Christian Church and lived a faithful life till God took her to a better world. Cora was patient through all her sickness and suffering of 13 long years.
She was united in marriage to Richard E. Pottorff Aug. 26, 1895. To this union was born 13 children; 7 girls and six boys. One boy, Ival D. preceded his mother in death at the age of 14 months. The 12 surviving are, Mrs. Ruby A. Ritz of Floris, Mrs. Io C. Skinner of Ottumwa, Harry E., Glenn P., Leo M., of Eldon, Mrs. Creta E. Williams of Ottumwa, Paul D., Marvel M., Mildred L., Carmel K., and E. Lucille.
She leaves her husband and children, 2 grandchildren, 2 sisters, Mrs. Ida Wilkinson and Miss Amy Niday, a brother, John Nidey, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Floris by Rev. D. W. Hastings. The burial was at the Pierce Cemetery."
