Chapman's Portrait and Biographical Record of Lackawanna Co. 1897:
"Morgan and Mary (Gibbs) Daniels, were born and married in Wales. In 1832, when Morgan was fifty-seven years of age, they came to America. The family took passage on the sailing ship, "Arabian Castle," [Note: Raby Castle] of five hundred tons burden. This was a good boat, but small, and in a storm was driven upon the rocks and had to put into the nearest harbor, Nova Scotia. There the thirty-six passengers spent five weeks, while the ship was being repaired. Finally they took ship again, and, after fifteen weeks from the time of starting, they landed in New York.
The Daniels family settled in Carbondale, PA, where they were prominent and early members of the Carbondale Congregational Church. In 1834 they came to Spring Brook Township, Lackawanna County, to the farm now owned by their son William. Morgan endeavored to clear the land, but he was past his prime, and could not work as energetically as in former years. However, with the assistance of his children, the timber was cut down and the land placed under cultivation. The family was also responsible for the organization of the Congregational Church in Spring Brook. (Ref: Montrose Independent, Montrose, PA, 1985) Morgan remained here until his death at seventy-one years. Mary passed away at the age of eighty-one."
