Born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, she had retired as the quality assurance department head secretary from the Naval Aviation Depot, Norfolk, after 23 years of dedicated service.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Herman N. Hartley; a daughter, Deborah J. Query of Chesapeake; three sons, Duane N. Hartley of Morehead City, N.C., Kip B. Hartley of Chesapeake, and Johnnie H. Chandler Jr. of Norfolk; and six grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 2720 River Road, Des Plaines, Ill. 60018.
