Lena's mother (Julia Thompson-Erickson) and her two oldest children (Lena and Chris Erickson)came to Dakota Territory in Spring of 1882 to join her husband whom came to Dakota Territory prior to 1880 to file for a homestead claim. He received his claim and made a homestead shack to prepare for his family to join him...which they did in Spring, 1882.
Julia Erickson came with her father, Nels Thompson, and her brother, John Thompson.
Dakota Territory Statehood came in 1889 and their homestead was near Tilford, Meade Co., South Dakota. They lived along Morris Creek.
