William T. Evans, called Captain Billy, was born in Boling Green, Warren County, Kentucky. He was one of at least 10 children of Elisha Evans, a native of Virginia, and Judith Ferguson. The family moved to Kentucky in 1808. After the death of his parents, William moved to Crystal Springs Mississippi to be near his brother, Robert Price Evans. William relocated to his home on Brushy Creek, December 24, 1854. William and his wife Mary Hennington were the parents of the following children, Ann C. who married Joseph T. McCutcheon, Lovey who married George McCutcheon, Thomas W., Mary, Gertrude, Elizabeth, Cornelia, Aseneth, Francis and Sarah. William T and wife Mary, children Annie C. and Lovey, are buried in Shiloh-McCutcheon Cemetery.
