Gladys M. Young died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Hoyt Nursing Home. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late David D. Casey and Edna F. (Devers) Casey was born on May 19, 1914, in Detroit, Michigan. She married Edwin R. Young, deceased, in Saginaw on November 9, 1935. They previously owned Young's News Corporation of Saginaw as well as Young's Reading Center of Saginaw Township. She was a member of the Saginaw Chamber of Commerce, The League of Women Voters, GWU Community Bible Study and the Catholic Study Club. She was an active member of SS Peter and Paul Parish and St. Stephen Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir and PTA.
Members of the immediate family are sons Ken (deceased) and Janet Young, David and Sharon Young, Jerry and Pam Yong, Jack Young (deceased), Dr. Mark and Barbara Young, and daughter Mary Ellen and George Wartenburg. She also leaves 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She leaves one surviving brother, Leo and Sally Casey. Three sisters and two brothers are deceased, Marion Young, Mildred Fitch, Ruth Marie Hill, Lloyd Casey and Kenneth Casey.
