Pearl E. Van Kirk, the daughter of Arthur and Mary Ann Van Kirk, was born January 9, 1892, in Champaign, Illinois, and departed this life at the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville, Iowa on Monday, March 7, 1994, at the age of 102 years, 1 month, and 28 days.
She received her education in Shenandoah Iowa schools
On April 2, 1908 she was united in marriage to Earl E. Summers in Missouri. The couple moved to Ringsted, Iowa in February 1919. They farmed in the area until their retirement in 1960. Mr. Summers died in 1976. Pearl moved to Estherville, Iowa in 1979.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ringsted, Ringsted American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and God Star Mothers.
Mrs. Summers is survived by two daughters, Doris Englert of Redding, California; Waneta Sunde and her husband, Ray of Estherville, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Luella summers of Estherville, Iowa; eight grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Foster of Long Beach, California; and one brother, Walter Van Kirk of Long Beach. She has been preceded in death by her husband, Earl, four sons, Harold, Jerry, Harry, and Lloyd; and one great-grandson.
