JONATHAN ELKINS 1978-2005

OAKLAND -- Jonathan D. Elkins, 26, beloved gift from God, journeyed on to live at the right arm of God on Saturday, April 23, 2005. Jon was born in Wurzburg, Germany, on June 27, 1978, the son of Carroll and Grace Elkins.

Jon attended Messalonskee High School in Oakland, and he married the love of his life, high-school sweetheart Elizabeth Doucette, on Feb. 14, 1999. He and his wife celebrated their sixth anniversary in February, and his son Tyler's sixth birthday in March. Jon enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed numerous fishing trips with his father and son, and enjoyed hunting with his wife. He lived each day to the fullest. Jon's goals in life were making everyone around him happy and making them smile, even for a minute. He liked snowmobiling with his family and going to the races to watch his father-in-law and uncle race. One of his passions was working on his Blazer and his Lincoln.

Jon was employed at the Tire Warehouse in Waterville, where he enjoyed working with friends and meeting new people. Jon was an active member of the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member of the praise team and the trio "The Cross." Jon loved to sing praises to his savior. He was a member of the church board, the financial committee and missions.

Jon is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his son, Tyler; his daughter, Caitlin; his parents, Carroll and Grace Elkins; his sister, Carolyn Elkins; and a special niece and nephew, Chelsea Elkins and Jaydon Elkins, all of Oakland; his father- and mother-in-law, Hugh and Robin Doucette of Waterville; grandparents Avis Adams of Oakland, and Freeman and Beverly Elkins of Clinton; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Jon was predeceased by his grandfather, Lawrence Adams; and grandmother Audrey Elkins. All he touched will sadly miss Jon.

Friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Wheeler Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Oakland. A funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Oakland Church of the Nazarene, Belgrade Road, Oakland. Burial will be in Lewis Cemetery, Cottle Road, Oakland.
