Arthur Sons

Alton - Arthur N. Sons, 79, died at 2:42 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2000, at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Alton.

A son of the late Alfred and Jessie (Henson) Sons, he was born July 29, 1920, in Sims.

The World war II Navy veteran was stationed at Corpus Christi, Texas. After serving with the Navy, he was employed for 42 years with Owen's Illinois Glass, retiring in 1983. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Alton.

The Rev. Andre Dobson will officiate at services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton.

Burial will follow in Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

The American Cancer Society has been named a memorial.
