Helen B. Ebbing, Galesburg Chapel, 84, of 2345 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, Ill., died at 10:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born on March 3, 1926 in Galva, Ill. to John and Margaret Jacobs Stoneking, Sr. She married Russell Anderson in 1944. She then married Ralph R. Ebbing, Jr. in Galesburg on November 19, 1966. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1985.
Helen is survived by a son, Gary R. (and Jennifer) Anderson of Salinas, Calif.; a daughter, Bonnie (and Wendell) Van Fleet of Galesburg; a step son, Michael (and Karen) Ebbing of California; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mary Stoneking. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dixie L. Sopher, a grandson, David Van Fleet, a step daughter, Patricia Bangert, and three brothers.
Helen was an X-Ray Technician at Galesburg Cottage Hospital for five years and a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Galesburg.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, riverboat gambling, dancing and shopping. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Rev. Marilyn Anell officiating.
