Mrs. Kristi Dee Friedman passed away suddenly at her home in Mesa, Arizona at 3:30 a.m. on March 8, 2010 due to a heart attack following years of battling Type II Diabetes.
Kristi came into this world on February 5, 1955 in Webb City, Missouri; daughter of the late Lee and Dolores Smith; granddaughter of the late Samuel and Mable Williams. She spent her early childhood years in Grove, Oklahoma.
At the time of her death, she had been married to her husband, Allen A. Friedman, for twenty-seven years. They were married in Overland Park, Kansas on November 26, 1983.
For many years, Kristi had been self-employed in her home as a pet groomer who was much loved by her clients, family, friends and neighbors. She received her Associates Degree from Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas and received her pet grooming training at the Pedigree Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. Kristi was known to love all animals fortunate enough to cross her path. This was true whether the animal was one of her own pets, a client's pet or an animal in need of someone to care for it. She provided loving care for each of them and rescued many of them from their suffering when they were ill or injured.
Kristi is survived by her husband, Allen Friedman; sister Patricia Smith Herrington (Dale Tucker) of Cooper City, Florida; brother Steven Smith (Lori) of Oceanside, California; uncle David Williams (Carolyn) of Grove; cousins Sam Williams (Patti) and Shannon Williams Johnson (John) of Grove, and Jody Williams of Louisiana; aunt Lois Smith Stanley (Paul) of Scottsdale, Arizona; cousins Mark Stanley (Elaine) of St. Augustine, Florida and Philip Stanley of Singapore; niece Andrea Herrington (Karl Vitols) of Vershire, Vermont; nephew Tyler Smith and niece Jacey Smith of Oceanside, California; great-nephew Tovahn Vitols, and great-niece Liba Vitols of Vershire, Vermont.
A funeral service was held in Mesa, Arizona at the Allen Funeral Home on March 13, 2010 for family and friends residing in that area.
A graveside service will be held at the Olympus Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. for family and friends living in the Grove area.
Graveside services will be conducted through the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home of Grove, Oklahoma, with Father Phil Lawrence from St. Andrews Episcopal Church officiating.
Expressions of condolence may be made through donations to any chapter of the American Humane Society in lieu of flowers.
