A native of the District of Columbia, he was a construction engineer who worked for more than 23 years with the Capitol architect's office. For more than 50 years he was a member of the George C. Whiting Lodge of the Masonic Order. He was a member of the Washington Gun Club and won many trophies and awards for outstanding marksmanship. He died at the age of 71 years on Wednesday, January 7, 1931 at his residence, 1641 Wisconsin Avenue after a short illness. Survivors included his widow, Marion S. Brown; one son, Halbert P. Brown and one daughter, Mrs. J. Louis Freeman, all residents of the District of Colombia. His funeral was held from his residence. Rev. Charles Kelser, pastor of the Mount Tabor Methodist Church officiated at the services. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
