Madeline Ayers Parker, 86, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 26, 2010.

She was a member of Preston Oaks Baptist Church where she was an avid member of the church choir and sang throughout the valley with the traveling choir. She was retired from Singer Furniture after many years of service. She loved traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Claudie Ayers and brother, Phillip Ayers.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Heyward R. Parker; son, Stephen H. Parker and wife, Grace Anne, son, Tracy P. Parker; daughter, Shari Parker Waldeck and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Will and Dave Parker, Brady, Layton and Parker Waldeck; sister-in-law, Naomi Beard, all of Roanoke; and many nieces, nephews and friends. I

n lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alz.org. The family wishes to thank Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home with special thanks to Steve Cuckler.

Funeral services will be held noon Monday, March 29, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Joe Greene officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel.
