Thomas Chamberlain Homsley is the son of Bailey Anderton Homsley and Sarah Winifred (Giles) Homsley. He was born near Troy (Lincoln County) Missouri and moved with his parents to Columbia (Boone County) Missouri. He married Margaret Stella (Thomas) Homsley in 1896. Thomas was a farmer and a carpenter. He bought a farm and farmed near Deer Park, Boone County, MO. He completed some carpentry work on the original Academic Hall at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Thomas's father Bailey is the son of Jefferson Homsley and Lucy (Bishop) Homsley who married on 11-6-1834 in Warren County, Missouri and had five children (Adeline E. b 1835, Bailey Anderton b 2-22-1838, d 9-29-1927, Richard b 1842, d 1909, Louisa b 1844 and Barbara b 1846).

Thomas's Grandfather Jefferson Homsley is the son of Joseph Homsley and Barbara (Foulks) Homsley of North Carolina.
