Mrs. Lam was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Gruver and Emma Dean Hensley.
She lived in Elkton most of her life and lived in Wyoming for seven years. She was a member of Bear Lithia Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress, having worked for Blue Bell in Shenandoah and Elkton, Sleepware, the H.D. Lee Company and Genesco.
On July 22, 1944, she married Joseph Rawleigh Lam, who preceded her in death March 5, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph C. Lam of McGaheysville, and Warren Dale Lam of Elkton; two daughters, Brenda J. Meadows and Norma M. Breeden, both of Elkton; a brother, Curtis Hensley of Elkton; two sisters, Thelma Steele of Broadway and Wilma Burke of Sperryville; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Donald Leatherman will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Monday at Bear Lithia Baptist Church near Elkton. Burial will follow at Samuels Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton or at the home of her daughter, Brenda Meadows, at any time.
