William C. "Andy" Anderson born April 7, 1918, passed away on March 23, 2010, in Memphis, Tennessee. Andy was born and raised in Prentiss County, Mississippi, son of John Ephraim and Lillian Prather Anderson. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1937. He attended Sunflower Junior College and Delta State University before joining the Army Air Corps. He served as an instructor in the Chemical Warfare Defense Group at Tinker Field near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After being honorably discharged he finished his college education and graduated from Oklahoma City University. He moved to Memphis and went to work for Sears & Roebuck Co., where he met and married Jennie Stutts, his wife of 60 years. He left his job as Division Manager with Sears & Roebuck in 1964 to work for Holiday Inns as head textile buyer for Innkeeper Supply Co. In 1988, at the age of 62, he left Holiday Inns to start Andy Anderson Co. In the beginning, he operated the business from his dining room with a phone and a legal pad. His oldest son joined him in the business and together they grew Andy Anderson Co. into one of the nation's leading suppliers of textiles to the hospitality industry. Andy was a tireless entrepreneur. He also developed real estate and was a principal of Anderson-Stutts Ranch, a 538 acre cattle ranch in Sharp County, Arkansas. Andy was an active member of St. James/Crossroads United Methodist Church for 46 years, where he served as a Trustee and on various committees. He assisted with his sons' Boy Scout troops. In his later years he enjoyed organizing reunions for his high school, colleges and his Army buddies. Andy was known for his friendly manner and quick wit. Andy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ruby Davis, and four brothers, Robert, Earl, Forrest and Milton Anderson. He leaves his wife, Jennie Stutts Anderson, his children, Bill Anderson (Karen) of Collierville, Jennifer Esposito (Bill) of Greenville, DE, and Steve Anderson (Trish) of Memphis, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
